I’m going to make a bold statement here and say that The Waffle House is home to the best breakfast in St Albans.
If you speak to anyone about St Albans, I’d bet my bottom dollar that 9 times out of 10 The Waffle House will come up. Because of it’s fame it can be a bit tricky to get a table, but when you do it is well worth the wait.
The Waffle House is centred around a 16th Century Watermill at the bottom of Verulamium Park in a historic part of St Albans. The water wheel has been restored and still turns today with the sound of the water adding to the ambiance and occasionally making you need a wee.
The idea of a savoury waffle may seem a bit strange at first, but trust me, this place seriously lives up to it’s name.
The wholemeal waffles work perfectly with all the breakfast favourites. We had the sausage & beans and then the salmon & eggs. The combination of fresh waffles and top notch ingredients is a match made in breakfast heaven. The milkshakes also make for the perfect antidote to any excessive frivolities from the night before.
This place should be first on the list for any visit to St Albans.
